So, where do we draw the line in the sand? It depends on where your heart is set.
The Israelites were captive in the province of Babylon – a pagan environment. King Nebuchadnezzar wanted to celebrate his success, wealth and power. So he had a huge gold statue made and then called on all to bow down and worship it.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego stood firm, refused to serve pagan gods and rejected the King’s call to worship the gold statue. So the King ordered to have them thrown into a raging furnace. The King didn’t count on God’s complete protection for these men. Amazed, he gave praise to God for rescuing His servants.
Is idolatry an issue for us in our world? Have no doubt. Often the desires of our hearts turn into demands. We think we need what we desire and then we go to all ends to gain it. Our desires become the idols of our hearts.
Idolatry is what we do when we are not satisfied. Trust God and He will fill your heart with everything you need .. God Himself! If we are called to make a stand then God will stand with us and protect us.
